The beginning of this chapter provided a quick overview of a variety of tools used in forensic investigations. These tools are not the only ones available for investigators to use, but are some of the most widely known. It is critical that any forensic analyst be aware of the tools available.
This chapter also covered major forensic certifications. Although it is not absolutely necessary to obtain a forensic certification in order to conduct forensic analysis, it is definitely recommended. Studying for any of the major forensic certifications will teach you techniques and procedures. In addition, the stronger your educational background and credentials, the more credible you will be when testifying.
In addition, the chapter covered general resources, including websites and journals. Finally, the chapter touched on key laws that pertain to forensics.
