In this chapter, you were introduced to some very specific procedures, types of tools, and media formats. These procedures govern how you will seize evidence, transport it, and prepare it for analysis. When you perform forensic analysis on drives, you gather very specific information and/or evidence. However, if the procedures outlined in this chapter are not followed carefully, any evidence subsequently gathered may be suspect. Failure to properly seize, transport, and handle evidence may even render the evidence inadmissible in a court of law.
