Components in the HBase stack

The Unix philosophy has promoted the use of tools that do one thing and do it well. The tools are designed in a modular fashion so that they can be put together to achieve complex functionality. HBase follows this philosophy to the hilt. HBase leverages two well-known distributed technologies, HDFS and Zookeeper:
