Make backups 

Consider the scenarios where your computer's data gets corrupted or when your desktop/mobile/hardware wallet is lost. There is no way to recover your money. Therefore, make encrypted backups of your Ripple account on an external hard disk or in a secure place online. Here, encrypting your backup is important—do not store plain text version of your secret keys. Consider the possibility that, when your backup is stolen, your backup will still be safe if it's encrypted.
